Sally Rousse performs, teaches, choreographs, curates, writes, and advocates dance. She is a recent Dance MFA Fellow and graduate of Bennington College (Vermont and Montpellier, France) and is a two-time recipient of the McKnight Fellowship for Dancers, a Sage Awardee for “Best Performer,” was named “Artist of the Year” (Minneapolis City Pages) and is the mother of two young adults. Born in Vermont, Rousse performed as a leading dancer with Ballet Chicago, the Royal Ballet of Flanders, and James Sewell Ballet, the company she co-founded in NYC and brought to Minnesota. She has danced many roles in the classical and Balanchine repertoires, works by Maurice Béjart, Jiri Kylián, and more than 100 new works created on her by contemporary choreographers, branding her “Renegade Ballerina.” Rousse’s site-specific works have taken dance off the traditional stage into venues such as the Kwon Tung Pier in Hong Kong and commercial venues such as the Guthrie, Southern, and State Theaters; the Walker Art Center, MASS MoCA, the Cartoon Channel, and Harvard’s American Repertory Theatre. As an instructor of classical and contemporary ballet and Zena Rommet Floor-Barre®, Rousse seeks to replace exclusive physical standards with unbiased and somatically sound ones and continues to consider the values of ballet, its lexicon, and history.

Karla Grotting is a dancer, choreographer, educator and producer working with a unique blend of jazz, tap, modern, theater, and percussive dance techniques. Since 1990, Karla has been a founding member, principal dancer, and artistic associate with Joe Chvala and the Flying Foot Forum. Karla has also performed with Combustible Company, Off-Leash Area, Jazzdance: by Danny Buraczeski, Keane Sense of Rhythm, and the Minnesota Jazz Dance Company. For two decades, Karla was on faculty at the U of MN, Dance Program, where she received the CLA Award for Outstanding Educator in 2006. Since 2014, Karla has been on faculty at St Olaf College. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the history of jazz music, jazz dance, social dance forms, tap dance, and improvisation; exploring the connections of these histories and their relationship to concert and theater jazz dance. In 2015, Karla conceived and co-produced the project Lost Voices in Jazz: The Choreographers of the Minnesota Jazz Dance Company, which reconstructed works by local jazz artists lost to AIDS. Lost Voices was recognized with a Sage Award for Outstanding Performance in, and Karla was named one of City Pages’ Artists of the Year, the same year. Karla was a McKnight Dancer Fellow in 2007.

Shannon Hartle Dolan is from Des Moines, Iowa and holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Iowa with a Minor in Communication Studies, and a Certificate in Arts Entrepreneurship. She currently resides in the Twin Cities where she dances with Black Label Movement, Crash Dance Productions, eMartin Dance, and Ruby Josephine Dance Theatre. Additionally, she has appeared in work with Threads Dance Project, Stark Dance, Hannah Albers, Ayumi Schaefer, Javan MnGrezzo, and Analog Dance Works. Her choreography has been presented in Collab Arts Volume III, Zenon Zone, Movers Make 2.0, and Candy Box Dance Festival.
